Rangers to sue GHALCA

The saga of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and Nigeria's Enugu Rangers over unpaid monies is far from over as the Nigerian Premier League club have threatened to place a court injunction on any President's Cup tournament organised by GHALCA until the $30,000 owed them for featuring in the tournament two years ago, is settled.

According to Rangers, after their efforts to get the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to resolve the issue after petitioning them, they have been left with no option than seek legal redress.

A source close to the club told the Graphic Sports in a telephone interview that legal action was the only way they could get GHALCA to pay the money, as the impression had been created that some monies had been advanced to them.

“Since the story broke about three months ago that GHALCA had made part payment to us, some of our fans have been looking at us with suspicious eyes. We tried to get the GFA to intervene, but till date, nothing has been done to resolve the issue. The only thing was a re-assurance that the money will be paid, Unfortunately, it’s taken too long to get this sorted out,” the source told the Graphic Sports.

Asked what they would want from the court, the source said: First to place an injunction on GHALCA organising any new President’s Cup until the money owed us is paid. We have had to go to court because the GFA who we expected to resolve the issue has not been able to.”
