The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has acknowledged that the reforms introduced after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have begun to produce positive outcomes.
According to him, the FA’S Executive Council was compelled to make bold and sometimes difficult decisions to restore confidence in the senior national team.
“The Executive Council met and made tough decisions to change things around the Black Stars. We engaged stakeholders before arriving at the final decision, and over time, we have been justified,” he stated.
Mr Simeon - Okraku observed that the improvements were already visible in the national team’s performances, particularly in their goal-scoring ability during qualification matches.
“The Black Stars went through a series of qualification games, and we are scoring goals, which proves that the team has improved and also shows that we were honest in addressing the issues,” he added.
The GFA President also emphasised leadership accountability, noting that he personally accepted full responsibility following the team’s failure to secure AFCON qualification.
“I owned up after failing to qualify for the AFCON,” he said, stressing that taking responsibility in difficult moments was a mark of good leadership.
The FA chief remains confident that the current trajectory will lead the Black Stars back to their best form as they continue preparations for upcoming international competitions.
