According to Nana Damoah, the careers of professional footballers are very short, hence there was the need for the players to maintain their focus and cut short their post-WAFU Cup celebrations if they want to land lucrative contracts in future.

Mr Awere made this known yesterday when he received a section of the team, fresh from winning the 2017 WAFU Cup last Sunday to the uniBank offices in Accra.
He said, "uniBank says big congratulations to you on behalf of the people of Ghana. You have made us all very proud. I am not sure you know what you have done because West Africa is a very strong football region and all 16 nations could have won the trophy.

"The only thing is that I plead that you remain humble and as hardworking as you showed on the field because of your careers. You heard your manager say that FOX is the biggest sports station in the world; that means the whole world was watching and some of you have already secured contracts outside. That is why you have to be grounded and work as hard as you did, so you continue to rise".

He also stated that the bank would later present a token to the players behind-closed-doors because of the pressures that the players face from friends when such announcements are made.

In an address, the Coach of the Black Stars B, Maxwell Konadu praised the uniBank and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their continuous support even after they failed to qualify for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
