Sanford gives GH¢225,000 for Women’s FA Cup
Sanford World Clinics, sponsors of the women’s FA Cup competition in Ghana, has increased this sponsorship money for this season’s competition from GH¢200,000 to GH¢225,000.
Dr Kojo Benjamin Taylor, the president of Sanford World Clinics, Ghana, announced this during the launch of the Season Two of the competition in Accra yesterday.
Announcing the package, Dr Taylor said the company was motivated by the successful outcome of the first event held last season and was thus encouraged to maintain its support to the competition because of the opportunities it provided young female players.
Dr Taylor also said it was the company’s way of always giving back to society as its corporate social responsibility and hinted the Daily Graphic that the company through its clinics, would hold health screening exercises for women and young girls at selected match venues during FA Cup match days.
Launching the event at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) yesterday, George Afriyie, the vice president of the GFA said the association was grateful to the sponsors for coming on board as partners in the development of women’s football and urged the media, particularly women sports reporters, to provide more coverage to help promote women’s football.
