The Black Stars are without an African title since 1982 when they won it for a  record fourth time in Libya.

But they have come close on two occasions in 1992 (Senegal) and 2010 (Angola) tournaments.

At next year’s finals, Ghana have been drawn in the same Group with title favourites Algeria, Senegal and South Africa who were all superb in the qualifiers.

Appiah believes the current crop of players have the ability, capacity and mental strength to win for the country a fifth AFCON trophy.

“The team has been playing together for a long time and the players know each other very well so blending won’t be a problem,” the former Juventus player stated..

“This team is one of the best on the continent and our players are playing regularly in their respective clubs so I don’t think we really have a problem when the questioning of winning  comes up.”

The 2015 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in January 17 and ends February   8.
