VIDEO: Kudus assists late winner as West Ham secure Carabao Cup win over Bournemouth

Kudus set up the winning goal in the 88th minute when his shot, initially on target, deflected off Jarrod Bowen’s chest and into the net. This crucial goal ensured West Ham’s progression to the third round of the competition, with the match held at the London Stadium.

The game initially saw both teams struggle to create clear opportunities in a lacklustre first half. However, the tempo shifted with the introduction of key players such as Justin Kluivert for Bournemouth and Lucas Paquetá and Emerson Palmieri for West Ham. Kudus, who entered the match in the 74th minute, made an immediate impact not just with his assist but with an overall strong performance. He completed all six of his passes, successfully dribbled past opponents once out of two attempts, and won two of four ground duels.

Fellow Ghanaian and Black Stars teammate Antoine Semenyo also featured in the match, playing 22 minutes for Bournemouth. Semenyo had 16 touches and completed nine out of 10 passes.

Both Kudus and Semenyo are expected to be called up for Ghana’s upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers in September.
