Heading into the Matchweek 5 clash, Rayo Vallecano were 15th in the table with just four points. They found themselves trailing 0–1 at halftime after Raul Garcia’s 27th-minute strike. However, early in the second half, central defender Mumin stepped up in search of an equaliser.

Midfielder Gerard Gumbau recycled the ball to Mumin on the left flank. With a superb first touch, Mumin bypassed Rubén Garcia before unleashing a powerful shot.

Initially appearing like a cross, the thunderous strike flew past Osasuna goalkeeper Sergio Herrera, bouncing off the underside of the crossbar and into the net. A closer look at the replay suggested Mumin had intended the shot, spotting Herrera off his line and out of position. The Rayo Vallecano fans erupted in celebration as Mumin sprinted to the touchline to celebrate with the coaching staff.

Sixteen minutes later, Rayo doubled their lead through defender Andrei Ratiu, and they went on to secure a 3–1 victory over Osasuna, claiming all three points.

Reflecting on the match, Mumin praised his teammates and expressed his gratitude. "I’m a firm believer in God, so the first thing I’ll say is I thank God," he said. "The whole team showed a lot of determination and effort. It was a very good goal, and I think we have an unbelievable coach and staff who always push us not to give up."

Mumin’s goal comes after a difficult spell with the Ghana national team, following a recent error in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola. Nonetheless, his confidence has clearly been restored with this impressive performance.
