We have no choice but to go all out – Basigi on remaining group stage matches

Head coach of the Black Princesses, Yussif Basigi has emphasized the need for his team to secure results at any cost in their final group stage matches to avert any misfortune in their campaign at the 2024 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup currently underway in Colombia.

In their opening game on Monday night, Ghana fell short losing 2-1 to debutants Austria, leaving them in a precarious position.

Basigi acknowledged the heightened pressure following the loss saying “I wouldn’t say there is no pressure at all because if we had won or drawn this game against Austria, it would’ve given us motivation.”

"We didn’t utilise many of our goal scoring chances which was unfortunate. I think this is where we have to polish very well so that we will be able to be back in contention’’.

With the team now needing to secure positive outcomes in their remaining two games, Basigi added, “now we have no option than to go all out with the remaining two games to go.”

On Thursday, Ghana will next face Japan, who won their opening match 7-0 against New Zealand before playing New Zealand in their final group match.
