Weekend Boxing Night storms James Town tomorrow

The weekly Weekend Boxing Night series returns tomorrow at James Town in Accra as juvenile and amateur fighters get the opportunity to compete.

Participants in the competition, which has unearthed budding talents from the various boxing gyms in Accra, are looking forward to thrill patrons again.

According to organisers of the event, which is being put together by the Allotei-Cofie Boxing Promotions in collaboration with Gã Mashie Development Agency (GAMADA), there will be exciting pairings which will throw interesting bouts on the night.

Herbert Allotei-Cofie, Chief Executive Officer of Allotei-Cofie Boxing Promotions, told the Daily Graphic that the competition was helping the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) and the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) to unearth and nurture boxers for the future.

Mr Allotei-Cofie said his outfit was getting boxers in shape towards an upcoming McDan-sponsored boxing slugfest at the Asafotufiami Festival at Ada on August 2, which is being put together by the Graphic Sports, in collaboration with his outfit.

McDan Group is supporting the competition by carrying the young boxers for the project to Ada in August to join in the celebration of the Asafotufiami Festival.

“It has been great to see these boxers get the platform to express themselves and tomorrow is not going to be an exception because the pairings will bring out good contests.

“The competition is also preparing the boxers towards the upcoming boxing night at the Asafotufiami Festival on August 2 where there will be a lot of tougher fights,” Mr Allotei-Cofie said.

The likes of Ahmadu Mohammed, Moses Adjei, Samuel "Higher Thinking" Plange, Samuel Mensah, Michael Antwi, Wisdom Barnor, Kelvin Amartey and Caleb Dadzie will all slug it out for supremacy tomorrow.
