Win laurels for the nation - NSA boss tasks badminton team

Mr Mensah charged the team at his office at the Accra sports Stadium  yesterday when the 24-man contingent, made up of 16 players, two coaches and six other officials, called on him ahead of their departure to Lagos.

According to him, although the NSA was facing hardships, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the government, was working around the clock to offer the team the necessary support in their future endeavours.

"Go and comport yourselves and work hard to make Ghana proud. Be very confident in spite of the many challenges and succeed at all cost.

"With what we have seen and heard about you so far, we have no doubt that you are good players. It's unfortunate that we cannot support you enough but as you progress we will make sure to help you to perform effectively," Mr Mensah added.

"The NSA has so many problems but they are surmountable so don't worry because we are solidly behind you as you embark on this journey," he assured.

He used the occasion to congratulate the team on winning 11 medals at the Cote d'Ivoire and Benin International tournaments last month.

The players, who had a residential camping at the University of Cape Coast in the last two weeks, are expected to participate in the women's singles, men's singles, men and women’s doubles, as well as mixed doubles at the Lagos event.

A total of 11 countries will participate in the competition. They include Nigeria, Benin, Egypt, India, Israel, Algeria, Cameroun, Jordan and Kenya.
