Women’s League: Ampem Darkoa, Hasaacas hold on tight

Ampem Darkoa recorded an emphatic 4-1 victory over Northern Ladies at the Ohene Ameyaw Park to avenge the 1-2 loss they suffered at the hands of the Tamale team when they met in the first round.

Both  Princella Adubea and Sonia Opoku were on target twice to ensure that not only did the Techiman-based team win the points to extend their lead, but also made up for the physical attack on the team when they went to Tamale.

With the results, Ampem Darkoa, who now have 22 points with 14 goals could retain their title if they are able to beat Fabulous Ladies on Sunday.

Ashtown Ladies, enjoying their best season so far, climbed up to second spot after a 2-0 away win against Subayo Golden Ladies who are yet to record a single point in this competition.

Fabulous’ 2-1 win against Prisons Ladies have pushed them to the third place with 19 points with Sunyani-based Prisons dropping to fourth place.

Northern Ladies (19), Lepo Ladies (14), Real Upper Ladies (three) and Subayo Ladies (zero) complete the log in the northern zone

In the south, Hasaacas Ladies’ 2-1 away win against Halifax kept them on top with 21 points, but are hotly being pursued by Soccer Intellectuals who climbed back to second spot with 19 points after beating rivals, LadyStrikers 1-0 at Ajumako.

Police Ladies also climbed up to third place after their impressive 2-0 away win against Bafana Ladies at Elmina.

Bafana Ladies (11), Samaria Ladies (nine), Immigration Ladies (eight) and Halifax Ladies (four) follow in that order in the southern zone.
