Abena Amoah chairs ICMA Committee of Regional Representatives
THE Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), Abena Amoah, has been appointed as Chair of the ICMA Committee of Regional Representatives (CRR).
The appointment announced at the 58th ICMA Annual General Meeting & Conference in London last week, represents a significant recognition of Ghana's role in advancing Africa's capital markets on the global stage.
A release issued by the GSA said the CRR serves as a critical liaison between the ICMA Board and its 15 regional committees and chapters, overseeing governance and strategic direction for the associations over 630 member institutions across 71 jurisdictions worldwide.
It said as Chair, Ms. Amoah will lead efforts to strengthen regional collaboration, ensure diverse representation, and drive initiatives that address the unique needs of capital markets practitioners across all regions.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms. Amoah said: "I am honored to lead the Committee of Regional Representatives at such a pivotal time for global capital markets.
This role demands that we keep global priorities grounded in regional realities. With capital markets more interconnected than ever, yet more diverse, our regional presence is not just valuable- it is essential.”
She affirmed her commitment to strengthening collaboration across network, advancing diversity and succession in leadership, and ensuring that regional voices shape ICMA's strategic priorities.
The release said the appointment of Ms. Amoah as CRR Chair underscores ICMA’s recognition of Africa's significance in the global financial system and reinforces the organisation’s commitment to ensuring regional perspectives inform its governance and strategic initiatives.
“Her leadership will be instrumental in strengthening ICMA regional presence and advancing the interests of capital market practitioners across all jurisdictions,” it added.
