ABL equips retailers with business skills

Accra Brewery Limited (ABL), a leading player in the nation’s beverage industry, has embarked on an initiative to equip retailers of its products with some business appreciation skills.

The move is to enable them to improve on their trading activities.

So far, more than 100 retailers at Sogakope in the Volta Region, Saltpond and Mankessim in the Central Region and Sekondi in the Western Region, have been taken through the course dubbed ‘Retailer Development Programme (RDP).’

The training programme is in line with the company’s sustainable development agenda of creating a thriving world where incomes and quality of life are growing by accelerating growth and social development through its value chain.

At the training session at Sekondi, Mr Cyrus deGraft-Johnson told the media that the initiative was being implemented globally by many subsidiaries of SABMiller (ABL’s parent company).

“One of our ambitions is to create a thriving world by directly supporting over half a million small enterprises to enhance their business growth and family livelihoods,” Mr deGraft-Johnson stated.

He further pointed out that “we are empowering these retailers to promote the responsible sale, consumption and advertising of alcoholic beverages. I must also reiterate that ABL is committed to upholding the necessary principles to reduce, among others, harmful drinking and also empower its retailers.”

The retailers have so far been impressed with the content and conduct of the training programme.
