ACCESS Bank champions economic development

In keeping with its strategy as a catalyst for socio-economic growth, Access Bank Ghana is for the third year running leading discussions at the 2015 Ghana Economic Forum.

The two-day forum, which takes off on Tuesday June 9, is expected to attract over 400 business leaders from Corporate Ghana including policy makers, think-tanks, business influencers as well as professionals in both the private and public sectors.

Building on a streak of successful deliberations for the past four years, this year’s Ghana Economic forum organised by the Business and Financial Times newspaper is themed Ghanaian-Owned Economy: Setting the Agenda for achieving it”. It will kick-start a five-year agenda that will annually assess the progress made by government and the private sector towards the creation of a Ghanaian-owned economy.

Highlighting Access Bank’s support, the Managing Director, Mr. Dolapo Ogundimu said: “As a flag-bearer for responsible business, we’re continually creating viable platforms to promote national discourse for development. Our goal is to actively work with the public sector and other stakeholders in the private sector to create policies and programmes that will lead to economic prosperity”

Mr. Ogundimu further noted the yearly deliberations have helped develop the economic forum into a platform of contemporary discussion and unrivalled networking. “We look forward to facilitating development in Ghana for many more years to come” he concluded.

Lauding Access Bank’s continuous partnership with the Ghana Economic Forum, the Chief Executive Officer of the B&FT, Mrs. Edith Dankwa said, “Access Bank’s support for this important stakeholder forum demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that Ghana builds strong infrastructure to facilitate its economic development”.

She reiterated that the Ghana Economic Forum has over the years become a benchmark for trading sound economic ideas towards advancing the development of the country.

Speakers at this year forum include: the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Paa Kwesi Amissah -Arthur; Dr. Kofi Amoah, CEO of Progeny Ventures; Mrs. Marie Laurie Akin-Olugbade, Resident Representative of the African Development Bank in Ghana; Mr Dolapo Ogundimu MD, Access Bank, Mr. Jamil Ampomah, Director of ACCA Markets for Sub-Saharan Africa; Madam Mona Quartey, Deputy Minister of Finance; and Mr. Alex Mould, Acting Chief Executive of GNPC; among others.

The Ghana Economic Forum has since its inception set the agenda for public discourse on key issues pertaining to the Ghanaian Economy. Stakeholders at this year’s forum will trade ideas on how Ghanaians can collectively take ownership of the economy and contribute to making it a success.
