Advans Ghana Marks International Women’s Day with mentorship and free health screening
Advans Ghana Savings and Loans Ltd has marked International Women’s Day 2026 with a series of community outreach activities in Accra aimed at empowering women and girls through mentorship, health support and donations.
The initiatives, organised under the theme “Give to Gain”, focused on supporting young girls in school and promoting the health and well-being of women within local communities.
As part of the celebration, senior female executives of the institution visited the Unity Cluster of Schools in Accra, where they engaged students in mentorship sessions designed to inspire young girls to pursue leadership roles and professional careers.
During the engagement, the Chief Sales and Distribution Officer of Advans Ghana introduced the students to opportunities within the financial services sector, encouraging them to build confidence and pursue their ambitions.
Other female leaders within the institution, including the Chief Legal Officer and the Chief Human Resource Officer, shared their personal professional journeys with the students, highlighting the challenges they had encountered and the determination that helped them succeed.
The outreach programme also included the donation of sanitary pads to the schoolgirls, accompanied by education on menstrual hygiene and personal development to support their wellbeing and school participation.
Beyond the school programme, Advans Ghana extended its activities to the Okaishie community where it organised a free health screening exercise for about 100 women.
The exercise provided participants with basic health checks and medical advice as part of the company’s efforts to support the overall wellbeing of women in the communities it serves.
Speaking on the initiative, the Chief Sales and Distribution Officer of Advans Ghana, Barbara Odei, emphasised the importance of investing in women and girls as a pathway to community development.
“When we invest in girls today, we gain stronger women and stronger communities tomorrow. That is the true meaning of Give to Gain,” she said.
The activities were organised in collaboration with Maiden En Agape, a non-governmental organisation that focuses on girl-child empowerment and women’s welfare in Ghana.
Advans Ghana expressed appreciation to the organisation and its Chief Executive Officer, Abena Opeibea Anie-Budu, for supporting the outreach programmes.
The financial institution said it would continue to prioritise initiatives that promote gender empowerment as part of its broader corporate social responsibility agenda.
Advans Ghana, which was licensed by the Bank of Ghana in 2008, provides financial services primarily to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises with limited access to formal banking services.
