They are targeted at different segments of the bank’s customer base.

Launching the credit cards on November 30, the Managing Director of Barclays Bank Ghana, Mrs Patience Akyianu, said the new credit card was another option of making payment in the most convenient environment.

She explained that owners of the new credit card would enjoy 55 days interest-free period with no collaterals.

“This gives customers an opportunity to shop now and pay later,” she added.

She explained that the cards had been internationally accepted by 22 million outlets, allowing customers the chance to use them anywhere in the world.

Incentives

The Marketing and Corporate Relations Officer of the bank, Nana Essilfuah Boison, said Barclays Bank had formed alliances and partnerships with certain outlets that offered several discounts.

These discounts, she said, ranged from three per cent to 50 per cent, which customers could enjoy while making payments with the card.

She added that currently, the credit cards attracted travel miles and its usage helped customers to accumulate points that allowed one to buy travel tickets to any destination.

She said the bank planned adding travel insurance in the coming year.
