Call for guidelines on solar system installation

The Managing Director of Global Sustainable Energy Solutions, Australia, Mr Geoff Stapleton, has called for clear policy guidelines to help with the installation of quality solar systems to ensure maximum performance.

According to him, poor installations of solar panels in many instances, causes damage to the systems, forcing it to perform below its capacity.

Mr Stapleton made the call at a solar workshop in Accra during the week which sought to address the importance of solar energy in the country.

“natural disasters such as flood, erosion, cyclone and strong winds can damage a poorly installed solar array frame,” he said.

According to Mr Stapleton, frameworks such as a developed guideline by the local industry would go a long way to check some of these mishaps.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Deng Limited, Mr Jens Schmidt, said “We have various projects we are working on, an example is financing solar projects in the county”.

Mr Schmidt said Deng had manufactured a water pump which was powered by solar and would go a long way to help farmers who were not on the national grid.
