Driving financial inclusion: UBA Ghana connects MoMo to global Visa access

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana has upgraded its prepaid card services by introducing a new feature that allows customers to load funds directly from their mobile money (MoMo) wallets.

This innovation is designed to provide customers with a faster, more secure, and convenient way to top up their Ghana Cedi-denominated prepaid cards.

With this service, UBA customers can easily shop online, pay in-store, and access a wide range of Visa-enabled services and portals worldwide.

Speaking on the development, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Ghana, Uzoechina Molokwu, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to delivering simple, innovative, and customer-focused banking solutions.

“Introducing Mobile Money as a source of funding for the prepaid card creates flexibility, convenience, and control for customers, directly from their mobile devices,” he said.

The service is available to all UBA prepaid card holders and is aligned with the bank’s broader strategy to drive financial inclusion and promote reliable, cashless banking solutions. Customers stand to benefit from the seamless loading of prepaid cards from MoMo wallets, enhanced access to global shopping and payment platforms, and the assurance of secure, cashless transactions anytime and anywhere.

Mr Molokwu further noted that this initiative reflects UBA’s ongoing efforts to blend the strengths of traditional banking with the possibilities of digital innovation. According to him, such advancements contribute to the vision of creating a more connected, inclusive, and cashless Africa.
