ETI jumps GH¢0.12, Republic Bank surges GH¢0.26 as GSE market cap hits GH¢300 billion

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) extended its record-breaking run on Tuesday, with the GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) climbing an additional 23.24 points to close at a fresh all-time high of 15,868.11.

Trading data for the 7,174th session, held on March 17, 2026, showed sustained investor confidence, with the GSE Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI) gaining 94 points to settle at 10,448.22.

Market capitalisation expanded to an unprecedented GH¢301.86 billion, up from Monday's GH¢299.56 billion, crossing the GH¢300 billion milestone for the first time in the bourse's history.

Total volume of shares traded for the session reached 1,378,148, with aggregate value hitting GH¢4,367,929.29.

ETI, RBGH, and GOIL lead gainers

Ecobank Transnational Inc. (ETI) delivered another stellar performance, jumping GH¢0.12 to close at GH¢2.82. The pan-African banking group attracted significant investor interest, with 228,767 shares traded.

Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC (RBGH) surged by GH¢0.26 to close at GH¢4.69, while Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) added GH¢0.16 to GH¢7.60.

Clydestone (Ghana) PLC (CLYD) rose by GH¢0.07 to close at GH¢0.90, recording a gain of 7 per cent.

Laggards weigh on market

Several stocks recorded declines during Tuesday's session. SIC Insurance Company PLC (SIC) shed GH¢0.62 to close at GH¢5.59, while Cal Bank PLC (CAL) declined by GH¢0.02 to GH¢0.85.

Scancom PLC (MTNGH) dipped GH¢0.05 to GH¢6.29, and TotalEnergies Marketing Ghana PLC (TOTAL) fell GH¢0.14 to GH¢39.99. Enterprise Group PLC (EGL) edged down GH¢0.01 to GH¢12.15, while Fan Milk PLC (FML) also shed GH¢0.01 to GH¢15.39. Guinness Ghana Breweries PLC (GGBL) declined by GH¢0.01 to GH¢16.34.

Unchanged stocks

Several stocks recorded no price movement during Tuesday's session, including Access Bank (ACCESS), Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), AngloGold Ashanti (AGA), Aluworks (ALW), Asante Gold Corporation (ASG), Atlantic Lithium (ALLGH), Benso Palm Plantation (BOPP), Camelot (CMLT), Cocoa Processing Company (CPC), Dannex Ayrton Starwin (DASPHARMA), Ecobank Ghana (EGH), First Atlantic Bank (FAB), GCB Bank (GCB), Mega African Capital (MAC), PBC, Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), Societe Generale Ghana (SOGEGH), Trust Bank Gambia (TBL), Tullow Oil (TLW), Unilever (UNIL), and NewGold (GLD).

On the Ghana Alternative Market, no price movements were recorded.

Market Summary

The GSE-CI has now gained an extraordinary 80.93 per cent since the start of the year, while the financial stocks index has delivered a breathtaking 124.83 per cent return—more than doubling investor capital in just over two and a half months.

Tuesday's session saw the benchmark index set yet another record, with market capitalisation crossing the GH¢300 billion milestone for the first time, underscoring the remarkable wealth creation on the Accra bourse this year.
