FirstBank Ghana appoints Titilayo Omotola Balogun as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer
FirstBank Ghana has strengthened its executive leadership with the appointment of Titilayo Omotola Balogun as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer.
She succeeds Semiu Lamidi, who has assumed a new role within the wider FirstBank Group, marking a transition aimed at reinforcing the Bank’s financial stewardship and strategic direction.
Titilayo joins the Ghana subsidiary from FirstBank of Nigeria Limited, bringing more than 25 years’ experience in commercial banking. Her career spans financial and regulatory reporting, credit risk management, internal controls, sourcing and procurement, banking operations and high-level stakeholder engagement.
The Bank said she has consistently aligned financial management and procurement strategies with corporate objectives, delivering governance, transparency and accountability while building high-performing and diverse teams. She is also credited with driving cost optimisation initiatives, strengthening risk management frameworks and supporting digital transformation programmes.
Announcing the appointment, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of FirstBank Ghana, Victor Yaw Asante, expressed confidence in her ability to advance the institution’s strategic ambitions.
"we are delighted to welcome Titilayo to the FirstBank Ghana family. Her wealth of experience in finance, operations, and risk management aligns perfectly with our strategic vision. I am confident that under her leadership, our finance function will continue to deliver excellence, drive growth, and strengthen our commitment to transparency and accountability. Titilayo’s appointment marks a significant step in ensuring that FirstBank Ghana remains at the forefront of innovation and financial leadership in the industry."
In her new role, Titilayo will oversee all financial operations, reporting and strategic financial planning. The Bank indicated that she will play a central role in shaping its growth agenda, improving operational efficiency and ensuring prudent allocation of financial resources to support priority initiatives.
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, she holds an MBA from Edinburgh Business School in the United Kingdom. She has also completed executive education programmes including the Advanced Management Programme at Lagos Business School and the Senior Management Development Programme at FirstBank.
Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Titilayo is described as an advocate for mentorship and leadership development. She actively supports initiatives aimed at nurturing talent and promoting diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
The Bank said her appointment reflects its ongoing commitment to gender sensitivity and inclusion at the highest levels of decision-making. According to FirstBank Ghana, empowering women to occupy senior leadership roles strengthens governance, innovation and long-term institutional performance.
Married with three children, Titilayo now assumes a pivotal role in steering the Bank’s financial strategy at a time of heightened competition and regulatory scrutiny within Ghana’s banking sector.
