GCAA welcomes Delta’s new aircraft on Accra/JFJ route

The deployment of the latest aircraft, Airbus A330-900neo, on the Accra to New York route has received endorsement from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the regulator of the aviation industry in the country.

The new aircraft, introduced to the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) by Delta Air Lines last Tuesday, is expected to add approximately 30 per cent more passenger capacity between Ghana and the United States.

Unlike its previous aircraft (Boeing B767-332) on the route, which was banned by the regulator due to safety concerns, the Airbus A330-900neo would offer customers topnotch safety, comfort, luxury, value for money and reduced air tickets.

It would also enable the government, through the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and GCAA, to rake in extra revenue through increased passenger capacity.

Features

Customers will enjoy Delta’s state-of-the-art Airbus A330-900neo, offering the latest in premium travel.

The accelerated deployment of this new aircraft reflects the strong demand for our product and we are excited to offer passengers a premium onboard experience across the Atlantic with Delta’s renowned service.

Delta’s brand-new Airbus A330-900neo would contribute approximately 1,000 additional seats each week between Ghana and the United States while offering travellers a choice of four distinctive cabin experiences.

The experiences on offer are Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin. Again, the aircraft could boast of increased cargo capacity to meet rising demand.

The Delta One Suites features fully lie-flat seats, luxury bedding and privacy doors, paired with chef-curated meals and premium beverages while the Delta Premium Select offered enhanced comfort with wider seats and additional legroom.

Outcomes

The Director-General of the GCAA, Charles Kraikue, in an interview with the Graphic Business in Accra last Wednesday, commended the airline operator for introducing the latest aircraft in the Airbus family for the Accra—JFK route to meet the needs of passengers.

It was after a meeting with a delegation from Delta Air Lines at the Head Office of the GCAA at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.

The meeting was to inform the Director General of the successful introduction of Airbus A330-900neo on nonstop service from Accra to New York-JFK.
