Third Graphic Business Sense Challenge unveiled
The battle lines have been drawn for the third edition of the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge (TBSC), which will take place from Monday, June 7 to Sunday, June 20, this year.
Powered by the Graphic Business, a publication of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL), the third edition of the challenge will have 21 schools across the country battling it out on their knowledge of business for the ultimate prize.
The first contest of the challenge will see the Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) face off with the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

The All Nations University (ANU) will also battle it out with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), with the Tamale Technical University (TTU) also facing off with the Ghana Communications Technology University.
The Accra Technical University will also meet Radford University, the Central University will meet the Ho Technical University, with the Accra Institute of Technology meeting the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
The African University College of Communications (AUCC) will also face off with the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), the Kumasi Technical University will battle it out with the Wisconsin International University, while the University of Ghana Business School will also face the Ghana Baptist University.
The last contest will be between the University of Education, Winneba and the Cape Coast Technical University.
The defending champions, the S.D. Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies will be on standby.

The third edition of the challenge is on the theme: ‘Setting a sustainable business agenda’.
The maiden edition of the business challenge ended with the UCC emerging as winners.
The second edition saw the University for Development Studies (UDS) defeating the UCC to win the challenge, which has fast grown to become one of the most anticipated events on the calendar of tertiary institutions in the country.
Setting business agenda
The Assistant Editor of the Graphic Business, Mr Charles Benoni Okine, speaking at the launch, said the Graphic Business had always been the agenda- setting business newspaper, covering stories from maritime, insurance, the economy, SMEs, agriculture, banking, among others.

He said the newspaper had, over the years, informed policy makers, academia and businesses with top-notch business information.
Mr Okine noted that the GCGL decided to come up with the TBSC in a bid to help students stay abreast of issues on the economy and the private sector.
Rules and regulations
The rules and regulations of the competition were put together by a three-member technical committee.

To win the competition, a school will have to go through five stages.
At the preliminary stage, there will be 10 contests, with the winners progressing to the next stage.
The defending champions will join the 10 winners, plus one best loser, to make 12 schools to progress to stage two.

The 12 schools will then compete against one another, with the six winners, together with two best losers, progressing to the quarter finals.
The eight schools will then compete among themselves for a place in the semi-finals.
The winners in the semi-finals will then progress to the grand finale, while the losers will compete for third and fourth places.
There will be five rounds of contest to determine the winner of each challenge.

Round one will be on theory, round two on calculations, with round three being the business case of the day, which is popularly known as the problem of the day.
Round four is in two parts — the Graphic Business segment, where contestants will answer questions on the Graphic Business newspaper, and the true or false segment.
Round five is the riddles segment.
