Graphic Business reporter wins Best Business and Economic Journalist
A SENIOR Reporter with the Graphic Business, Emmanuel Bruce, has been adjudged the Best Journalist in Finance and Economic Reporting at the just ended 28th Ghana Journalist’s Association Media Awards.

His story titled “AfCFTA: 3 years on, no show- $4 trillion market potential untapped,” was adjudged as the best business and economic story out of dozens of entries by the award’s jury.
The story highlighted how the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement, heralded as a game changer for the continent’s economic landscape, has failed to achieve its potential three years on after it was launched.
The highlighted out how what was envisioned as a $4 trillion market opportunity, poised to revolutionalise intra-Africa trade and position the continent as a formidable global economic player, now teeters on the brink of becoming yet another grand African vision mired in bureaucratic quicksand.
The 28th GJA Media Awards also honoured journalists across various categories, including Health Reporting, Education, Sports, Entertainment, Investigative Journalism, Gender, Environment, and Science and Technology.
Other winners from the Graphic Communication Group Ltd are Edmund Smith-Asante (Columnist of the Year and Domestic Tourism Reporter of the Year); Kester Aburam Korankye (Best Feature, Print); Timothy Ngnenbe (Print News Reporter of the Year) and Delali Sika (Arts and Culture Reporter of the year).
Remarks
Mr Bruce described the award as a testament of hard work, research and zeal to bring to the fore, issues of national and global concern for the necessary action.
He expressed the hope that through the story, steps would be taken by governments on the continent to review the agreement and take immediate steps to make the benefits a reality.

At the ceremony, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, said more was required from journalists to consolidate the country's democracy.
The President of the GJA, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, for his part, called on the President to take bold steps to deal with the illegal mining menace before he leaves office.
