Chowdeck launches in Ghana with rider training, customer rewards and plans to transform on-demand delivery

Africa’s leading on-demand delivery platform, Chowdeck, has officially launched its operations in Ghana, unveiling a robust rider training programme and an extensive customer rewards system as part of its market entry strategy. With services now active in key parts of Accra, the company aims to reshape the delivery landscape with a blend of speed, innovation and local relevance.

As part of its commitment to quality service, Chowdeck has rolled out a rider training initiative focused on professionalism, app usage, customer service and delivery standards. Riders will also benefit from the “Rider Games,” an incentive scheme that rewards high performers with cash bonuses for completing a set number of deliveries. The company has introduced a rider support scheme offering loans of up to GHS1,000 based on delivery activity, and announced that training sessions will continue periodically to ensure service excellence as the business scales.

Customers in Accra can now enjoy Chowdeck’s loyalty-driven incentives, including a referral bonus of GHS10 on their first and second orders when they introduce a friend to the platform. The company’s “Chowscore” system allows users to access free deliveries and exclusive discounts based on their order activity, while additional promotions include an unlimited 30 per cent discount and free delivery options.

Chowdeck’s Accra operations currently cover Osu, Cantonments, Labone, Airport, Dzorwulu, East Legon, Madina, Adenta, Oyarifa and Abokobi. Through its platform, customers can order meals, groceries, and household items, all delivered within an average of 30 minutes. The company has leveraged advanced logistics and technology to build a seamless delivery system that benefits both vendors and consumers.

The expansion into Ghana marks a significant milestone for Chowdeck, which launched in Nigeria in October 2021. The company now boasts over 1.5 million users and a fleet of more than 20,000 riders across 11 Nigerian cities. “Ghana represents the first steps in our broader pan-African growth strategy. We are starting in Accra and are excited to be kicking off our operations,” said Femi Aluko, CEO of Chowdeck.

“This expansion is more than just growth — it’s about building the infrastructure for commerce and convenience across the continent. We are committed to delivering real value to both businesses and customers, while also creating meaningful income opportunities for thousands of riders who power our ecosystem,” he added.

Leading Chowdeck’s operations in Ghana is Henry Whyte, formerly Senior Operations Manager at Bolt Ghana. Whyte played a pivotal role in driving Bolt’s rise in the local ride-hailing sector and is expected to bring that experience to bear in shaping Chowdeck’s delivery services. “Our goal is to raise the bar for on-demand delivery in Ghana by combining cutting-edge technology, local talent and best-in-class customer experience,” he said.

“We are here to create value across the marketplace — helping merchants to scale, empowering consumers with convenience and providing well-paid employment for our network of riders,” Whyte added.

Ghana’s evolving urban consumer habits present an ideal environment for Chowdeck’s growth. Current data indicates that 87 per cent of consumers in Ghana access food delivery platforms via mobile phones, and the value of digital payment transactions is projected to reach US$2.35 billion by 2025.

The Chowdeck app is now available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Founded in 2021 and backed by Y Combinator, Chowdeck is positioning itself as a vital player in Africa’s digital economy, offering a trusted link between businesses and consumers.
