AMA donates streetlights to Kantamanto Market to improve visibility and security for traders

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has provided some streetlights for installation at the Kantamanto Market to help improve visibility, security, and trading conditions in the area.

Made up of eight boxes containing two streetlights each (16 streetlights in total), they were handed over to the traders by the Policy Advisor to the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Accra, Paul Oblie Laryea.

It followed earlier engagements with the market leaders on the need to enhance lighting within the market.

Nii Sakum Korley, who is in charge of the 24-Hour Economy Office at the AMA, said the move was part of the Assembly's commitment to support traders and respond to concerns raised by the market leadership.

He said the AMA had recognised the need to provide streetlights around the market, adding that the initial 16 lights were being provided to enable installation works to begin while efforts were made to secure additional ones.

Receiving the streetlights, Mr Opoku Afreh on behalf of the traders commended the AMA for the gesture, describing it as historic.
