Graphic Communications Group wins big at 2016 CIPS Pan Africa Supply Management Awards

The best and brightest in the world of African procurement gathered to celebrate the 2016 CIPS Pan Africa Supply Management Awards.

Ghanaian newspaper publisher Graphic Communications Group was declared overall winner for its project to stimulate recycling of paper and print during a ceremony at the luxurious Emperors Palace resort in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Meanwhile, the sought-after best procurement and supply consultancy project of the year went to South Africa’s Standard Bank for its transformational Project Ignite.

SABMiller Procurement was a double winner, picking up the best cross functional teamwork category for its One Africa Transformation Project and the most innovative use of technology in procurement and supply for its temporary employment management system.

The best people development initiative was won by Prospa-Kenya for The Kenyan Whatsapp initiative.

South Africa’s Nedbank won best supplier and enterprise development project for its collaboration with green cleaning company Monabo.

In the individual categories the CIPS young procurement and supply chain management professional of the year was picked up by Alain Dalais of the Comrades Marathon Association.

Standard Bank’s Janine Hansby won the CIPS procurement and supply chain management professional of the year.
