According to her, local entrepreneurs stand to gain if they strategically position themselves to leverage the many business opportunities in that country.

At the opening ceremony of the Ghana-Mexico Business and Culture Chamber in Accra last Wednesday, Mrs Aguirre said there were numerous business opportunities in Mexico, including the transport, oil and gas and agriculture sectors that Ghanaian businesses could explore.

Mrs Aguirre said Mexican businesses were ready to partner Ghanaian entrepreneurs in various business ventures.

“Mexico is one of the best countries with numerous business opportunities. Our economy is among the fastest growing in the world and we are ready to engage Ghanaian businesses in the area of doing business,” she said.

The event also witnessed the launch of the chamber, which is expected to create a platform for both Ghanaian and Mexican entrepreneurs to do businesses among themselves.

More investors

Mrs Aguirre said a lot of Mexican companies had expressed interest in coming to Ghana to invest in various sectors.

“One Mexican company has recently decided to start investing in Ghana in the agricultural field by bringing the highest technology in the sector to produce vegetables and fruits with international standards,” she said.

According to Mrs Aguirre, the company had no intention of exporting its produce but would leave it for local consumption, adding that it would benefit Ghanaians more and open up the agriculture sector.

In the coming years, she said, there would be more opportunities for both countries to deepen their engagement, especially in the area of businesses and other trade agreements.

Mrs Aguirre, therefore, urged Ghanaian entrepreneurs to take advantage of the chamber and benefit from the business opportunities in Mexico.

About the chamber

A Director of the chamber, Mr Nii Sodzra Laryea, said the chamber would provide the right platform for businesses in both countries to partner and expand their operations.

He said there were a lot of business opportunities in both countries that would benefit entrepreneurs from Ghana and Mexico, adding that: “This platform will bring them together to do business.”

In the past few years, Mr Laryea said, efforts had been put in place to ensure that Ghanaian businesses had the opportunities to extend their operations to Mexico.

“We hope that this platform will help achieve that goal,” he added.
