Odotobri wins 2017 CIMG Rural Bank of the Year award

ODOTOBRI Rural Bank Limited at Jacobu in the Ashanti Region has been adjudged the 2017 Rural Bank of the Year by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG).

The bank was selected out of the 140 rural banks in the country which were assessed in that highly competitive award category.

This is the third time the bank has won the award. Odotobri Rural Bank won the maiden edition of the same award when the rural banking category was included in the CIMG award scheme in 2012.

The award scheme which sought to acknowledge individuals and organisations for their marketing excellence and innovation attracted a number of companies and corporate institutions.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr Siaka Baba Ahmed, said the bank through its award had proven beyond all possible doubt that it was gunning to become an accomplished giant in unit banking; a feat which has earned the bank more points in that award category.

He said the bank’s effort to provide convenience to its clientele through the provision of ATM and other e-services was resonating with customers who clamour daily for the bank’s services.

Customer numbers

Mr Ahmed said this has in turn resulted in an increase in the number of customers from 5,795 in mid-2017 to a current figure of over 10,000 users.

He said the bank was also on record to have used peer review information to better its lot as a bank; an exercise, which has seen expansion in the bank’s outreach and customer base, improvement in human resource capabilities and operational performance.

“Odotobri Rural Bank has shown a steady growth in market share in the year under review while its CSR initiatives in the area of also education continues to put smiles on many faces and impacting lives” he said.

Earlier after the receiving the award, Mr Ahmed said he was grateful to the board and his management team and the entire staff for their unique individual roles which had made the bank win that prestigious award for the third time.

He subsequently dedicated the award to the bank’s cherished customers as well as all relevant stakeholders, saying: “Their loyalty to the bank has brought us to this current enviable position.”
