St. John’s Hospital CEO honoured for Excellence in Healthcare Administration
Dr. Maame Yaa Afriye, the Chief Executive Officer of St. John’s Hospital and Fertility Centre, has been awarded the title of "Ghana’s Most Outstanding Female in Healthcare and Administrative Excellence" at the 8th edition of the Corporate Ghana Hall of Fame Awards 2024.

The ceremony took place on August 30 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.
Dr. Afriye’s accolade recognizes her exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing healthcare services in Ghana. Her efforts have not only earned her a place among the top executives in the country but also inducted her into the "Corporate Ghana Hall of Fame," a prestigious network of CEOs and corporate leaders.
Speaking to the media after receiving the award, Dr. Afriye credited the success to her team’s commitment to excellence. "This award is a testament to our dedication to delivering high standards of customer care and setting benchmarks for others to follow. I am immensely grateful for this recognition, and I dedicate it to God, the staff of St. John’s Hospital, and our cherished clients for their unwavering support," she stated.
Under Dr. Afriye’s leadership, St. John’s Hospital has undergone significant transformation, expanding its infrastructure and modernizing its medical technologies. These efforts have positioned the hospital as a leader in the industry, earning it numerous awards, including "Outstanding Private Specialist of the Year (Gynaecology)" in 2023, "Fertility Hospital Brand of the Year" in 2023, and "Ultramodern Medical Facility of the Year" in 2022.
Dr. Afriye’s journey in healthcare is distinguished by her extensive academic background. She holds a PhD in Health Policy and Management from the University of Ghana Business School, a BSc in Pharmacy from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and an MBA in Health Services Management, among other qualifications.
Her contributions to the field extend beyond administration; she has co-authored several research papers published in reputable journals, including studies on customer relationship management in patient care and the experiences of working mothers with exclusive breastfeeding in Ghana.
In her five years as CEO, Dr. Afriye has spearheaded a strategic transformation at St. John’s Hospital, cultivating a motivated and customer-centric workforce, and creating an environment conducive to both general and specialized patient care.
In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Afriye enjoys reading, playing badminton, and spending time with her family and friends.
