The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) extended its record-breaking run on Wednesday, with the GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) climbing an additional 216.19 points to close at 15,401.68, as investors continued to pile into equities with unwavering enthusiasm.

Trading data for the 7,170th session, held on March 11, 2026, revealed sustained momentum across the bourse, with the GSE Financial Stocks Index (GSE-FSI) gaining 220.75 points to settle at 9,759.43.

Market capitalisation expanded to an unprecedented GH¢282.91 billion, up from Tuesday's GH¢277.97 billion, reflecting the continued wealth creation sweeping through the Accra bourse.

Total volume of shares traded for the session surged to 4,944,937, with aggregate value hitting GH¢29,043,604.70—a significant increase from Tuesday's figures.

Standard Chartered leads banking charge

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC (SCB) delivered another breathtaking performance, surging by GH¢6.91 to close at GH¢76.05. The banking heavyweight attracted significant investor interest, with 18,499 shares changing hands and contributing GH¢1,406,848.95 to total market value.

Benso Palm Plantation PLC (BOPP) also delivered a stellar performance, jumping GH¢7.00 to close at GH¢86.00, making it one of the session's top performers.

Enterprise Group PLC (EGL) rose by GH¢0.98 to GH¢10.90, while Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) added GH¢0.66 to reach GH¢7.26. SIC Insurance Company PLC (SIC) gained GH¢0.39 to close at GH¢6.37, and Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC (RBGH) rose by GH¢0.32 to GH¢3.58.

Ecobank Transnational Inc. (ETI) added GH¢0.13 to close at GH¢1.91, while Societe Generale Ghana PLC (SOGEGH) inched up GH¢0.01 to GH¢11.38. Scancom PLC (MTNGH) also gained GH¢0.01 to close at GH¢6.34, with an impressive 3,220,676 shares traded—the highest volume of the session—contributing GH¢20,409,755.53 to total market value.

Laggards emerge

Access Bank Ghana PLC (ACCESS) shed GH¢0.02 to close at GH¢46.62, while Ecobank Ghana PLC (EGH) declined by GH¢0.86 to GH¢56.14.

The GSE-CI has now gained an astonishing 75.61 per cent since the start of the year, while the financial stocks index has delivered a breathtaking 110.01 per cent return—more than doubling investor capital in just over two months.

Wednesday's session marked the continuation of a historic rally that has seen the benchmark index climb relentlessly since late February, with market watchers now eyeing the 16,000-point level as the next psychological barrier.
