UGBS student wins internal audit competition
A first-year student at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Sylvana Teiman, has emerged as the winner of the 2024 KPMG Internal Audit Awareness Month Student Article Writing Competition.

Her entry, selected from over 40 submissions from various universities, showcased innovative thinking in internal audit.
The competition, open to tertiary students’ nationwide, tasked participants with addressing the timely topic, "The Future of Internal Audit: Embracing Innovation and Disruption."
Ms Teiman's essay impressed the judges, securing her first place and a coveted internship at KPMG Ghana's Governance, Risk, and Compliance Services Unit.

Ms Teiman expressed appreciation to the organisers for the KPMG Internal Audit Awareness Month Student Article Writing Competition for providing a platform for students to showcase their skills and knowledge.
“I appreciate the opportunity to have emerged as the winner of this prestigious competition, and I am thrilled to have been awarded an internship at KPMG Ghana's Governance, Risk, and Compliance Services Unit.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to my lecturers and colleagues at UGBS for their unwavering support and guidance throughout my academic journey,” she said.
Academic achievement
Sylvana's academic achievements and extracurricular activities are equally impressive. She graduated from St. Mary's Senior High School as the best graduating student and was actively involved in peer education, teaching financial accounting, elective mathematics, and core mathematics.
She also participated in the capital market quiz and was a panelist on World Investors Day.
As a youth advocate for financial literacy, Teiman is a member of the Young Investors Network and Enactus-Legon, a social entrepreneurship community.
Her internship experience with the African Regent Hotel has also equipped her with practical skills in accounting and hospitality management.
