The Electricity Company of Ghana has scheduled planned and emergency maintenance exercises in the Tema and Ashanti Regions for Sunday, April 19, 2026, even as engineers continue to battle multiple feeder faults and broken high-tension poles that left several communities in the Ashanti West Region without power on Saturday.

According to advisories issued by the power distributor, the coordinated works are aimed at enhancing service reliability and addressing urgent network issues. The outages will commence at 9:00 am across affected areas, with durations varying depending on the scope of works to be carried out at each location.

In the Tema Region, a planned maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, affecting Philipkope, Greenstone Junction, Perftech, Ataa Mensah, Teye Kwame, Afienya Youth Centre, and surrounding areas. The seven-hour outage will impact these residential and commercial zones as technicians undertake essential infrastructure upgrades.

In the Ashanti Region, an emergency maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting the Bantama Race Course Market and surrounding areas. The eight-hour outage is aimed at addressing urgent network issues to prevent further deterioration of service quality in this busy commercial hub.

These scheduled interventions come as the ECG continues to manage the aftermath of multiple network faults that struck the Ashanti West Region on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

In one incident, broken high-tension poles at Ohwimase Hill Top disrupted power to Ohwimase Hill Top, the Seed Company, Old Town, and surrounding areas. Engineers were deployed to rectify the fault and restore supply.

A separate fault on the St. Hubert feeder affected parts of Lasab Junction, Odeneho Kwadaso, Mount Olivet School, parts of Edwenase, and surrounding areas.

Additionally, a fault on the Guinness 1 feeder disrupted power to Ahodwo Roundabout, True Vine Hotel, Adiebeha, Royal Park Hotel, parts of Nhiyaeso, and surrounding areas.

The ECG assured affected customers that engineers were working diligently to rectify all faults and restore supply as swiftly as possible.

In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by both the scheduled maintenance and the unplanned network faults. The company reassured the public that engineers are working diligently to resolve all network issues while emphasising that the planned exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network across the regions.
