Music producer and sound engineer Appietus has welcomed veteran highlife musician Barosky back into the music studio, just days after his return to Ghana from the United Kingdom.
Appietus shared a video of himself with Barosky in the studio on Wednesday, September 9, on Facebook where the two were seen together and singing.
The brief but heartwarming studio session marks one of Barosky’s first public appearances following his return to Ghana after a difficult period in Manchester.
Barosky, known in private life as Isaac Obeng Mensah, was repatriated to Ghana on Monday, September 7, after distressing footage of him struggling on the streets of Manchester sparked widespread concern.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa subsequently confirmed that the government had fully sponsored Barosky’s return and was providing him with psychosocial support and financial assistance to aid his reintegration into society. Appietus’ studio encounter with Barosky therefore offers a different and more hopeful picture of the musician following the troubling images that had dominated social media in recent weeks.
Although Appietus did not disclose details about what they were working on, the video showed the two musicians singing together, raising curiosity about whether the reunion could lead to a new musical project.
Appietus, born Appiah Dankwah, is one of Ghana’s best-known music producers and sound engineers and has worked with several leading Ghanaian artistes over the years. He has also previously been associated with Barosky through his work in Ghana’s highlife and hiplife music circles.
Barosky’s return to the studio comes at a significant moment in his career, as he begins a new chapter back home after his ordeal in the UK.
For now, the sight of the veteran musician singing again in a studio with one of Ghana’s prominent producers provides a welcome glimpse of optimism following the difficult circumstances that brought him into the public spotlight.
