Support young and aspiring musicians
A few months ago, Showbiz commended the administration of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) for their effort to equip the next generation of musicians with the necessary skills to succeed through the establishment of the MUSIGA Academy, in collaboration with NAFTI.
The first batch of students have already completed the Certificate Course in Music Production where they were trained in studio work; centre stage grooming and vocal techniques, traditional music, song writing, composition and arrangement and Western instruments. All these are valuable skills will be of immense benefit to not only the graduates but the entire industry as a whole.

Showbiz understands that the initial batch of students received scholarships from the Skills Development Fund (SDF) of the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET), however this scholarship is not available to the new crop of students eager to enroll in the course
Now is the time for the established artistes to step up and show their commitment to the growth and survival of the industry by supporting prospective students financially to enable them complete the six-month programme which has been integrated into NAFTI curriculum. Even as more students graduate, the skills and professionalism they will acquire will prove important in the years to come.
The current crop of artistes have an obligation to ensure that they leave a legacy that ensures that future generations will benefit from their contribution to the industry. Showbiz wants to make a call to not only artistes but corporate organisations, churches and interested individuals to financially support young and aspiring musicians to pursue the course to improve their skills.
