Acting IGP visits murdered policewoman’s family in Tamale
During a visit to the bereaved family in Tamale yesterday, to commiserate with the members, he said “even if it means that we should bring the whole of the police service to Tamale to find the perpetrators we will do it.”

He described the murder of the policewoman, Corporal Agatha Nana Nabin, as a very serious tragedy.
Special team
The acting IGP said his outfit had, as a matter of urgency, put in place tactical measures including the deployment of a special team of officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Intelligence and National Operations Departments to Tamale to support investigations into the case.
“The police administration would do everything possible within our power to apprehend the perpetrators,” he assured.
The scene at the family house was one of sadness as some family members could not hold back their tears.
The IGP was accompanied on the visit by the Director-General of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Director General of Operations, COP Mr George Alex Mensah, the Northern Regional Police Commander, COP Mr Timothy Yoosah Bonga, and other senior officers of the Ghana Police Service.
The IGP also visited the crime scene to have first-hand information of the incident
Payment of benefit
He said the Ghana Police Service would take charge of the cost of her burial.

In addition, he said all benefits due her would be paid to the family to enable it to provide for the children she left behind.
“She lost her life in the course of serving the nation as such we will ensure that all her benefits are paid to the family as soon as possible,” he said.
Mr Oppong-Boanuh appealed to the general public to assist with credible information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
Family head
The Head of the bereaved family, Mr Jacob Mark, described the incident as a big blow that had hit the family and appealed to the police “to try and track down the perpetrators, since the guns they took from the police officers are still with them”.
He said the family was yet to meet to deliberate on the burial and funeral arrangements and would announce a date when the time was due.
Corporal Nabin was with two other police officers on duty that night at a snap checkpoint on the Tamale-Kumbungu road near the Star Oil Filing Station when the incident occurred.
She was survived by a husband and three children.
