MTN Hitmaker 6 receives highest entries

The Music reality TV show, has since its inception produced vibrant and talented acts like Naterial, Koo Ntakra, Togbe, Kidi, Kwami Eugene, C J Biggerman and Kurlsongs .

Speaking at the launch of the music reality show, dubbed MTN Hitmaker 6, the Next Level on Friday, July 21 at the Head Office of MTN Ghana, General Manager for Marketing at MTN, Richard Acheampong, revealed that MTN’s vision for this year’s edition is to encourage people, including participants of the show, to take advantage of opportunities that exist in the digital space.

“Our vision is to lead the delivery of a bold new digital world which means that we want to inspire people to take full advantage of the opportunities that exist in the digital space; we are putting resources at the disposal of these budding talents to be able to make a mark especially using digital platforms,” he said.

The operations manager of Huawei Ghana, Jackie Yao , who was present at the launch said Huawei is partnering with MTN to make the event a bit different from other events hence the digital platform MTN VIDEOPLUS App which will not only show the latest content but also show events from the past five years so that patrons can enjoy all the contents and elements of MTN Hitmaker.

These demos submitted by participants will be listened to by the beat makers and the best shortlisted to proceed to the next stage where they will meet the judges face to face to perform at the auditions. Participants will be tasked to perform their own songs to show originality.

That has been one of the key requirements for MTN Hitmaker since its inception. However, the judges could request contestants to perform cover songs of known artistes.

Two of the three Judges for MTN Hitmaker 6 in the persons of Television/radio presenter Caroline Sampson and celebrated award-winning Ghanaian music producer, Kaywa, real name David were announced with a third judge expected to be named later.

CEO of lynx entertainment, Richie Mensah, sound engineer, Joseph Bulley, aka Magnom, and musician and Patrick Sika-Nartey, popularly known as DJ breezy, were also unveiled as beat makers for MTN Hitmaker 6.
