After enjoying some good reviews with her last album, His Word, award winning gospel musician, Ohemaa Mercy, is back with a new song which she calls, We Praise Your Name.

The song, which was released last week, defines the Wobeye Kese artiste’s choice of a contemporary style in her presentation.

Recorded by Francis Kwaku Osei of Groove Recording Studio, the worship song rendered in English exalts the name of the Lord.

Using different attributes to describe God, Ohemaa talks about the wondrous and supernatural features of God and why it is important for human beings to appreciate His works.

In the past years, Ohemaa, who is known for her traditional Ghanaian gospel music style takes a bold step with contemporary gospel music on We Praise Your Name. Thus, those who have admired her for her style on songs such as Wobe ye kese and Edin Jesus, We Praise Your Name is definitely not one that her fans might be familiar with. For her, it is just to catch up with the changing trends in gospel music.

In an interview with Showbiz on Monday, Ohemaa said the song is to test her versatility and try other “unfamiliar terrain” as well.

“As an artiste, you need to be versatile to appeal to wider audiences and a new market for my music so taking the contemporary style will help me meet my target,” she stated.

Though she admitted this might  bring some changes to her style, Ohemaa said she isn’t ready to abandon what she has been noted for all these years. With support and encouragement from some of the contemporary gospel artistes such as Cwesi Oteng and Joe Mettle, the Adanfo Papa singer said she is sure to reach out to the youth with her new song.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank Cwesi Oteng for composing this song for me. He has been a backbone in my ministry,” she said.

According to her, We Praise Your Name is to give her fans a taste of what to expect at her upcoming Tehilla Experience concert scheduled for the International Central Gospel Church on Sunday, August 2.

Ohemaa, who has five albums to her credit namely, Adanfo Papa, Edin Jesus, Wobe Ye Kese, Prophecy and His Word promised her fans a good show.
