NIA staff calls off strike over delayed allowances

Staff of the National Identification Authority (NIA) have suspended a strike action started last week over delays in the payment of their operational support allowances.

The decision follows engagements with the National Labour Commission (NLC), the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and the Ministry of Finance. The union agreed to suspend the strike action effective Monday, 30 June 2025.

In a statement signed by Head of Corporate Affairs, Williams Ampomah Darlas, the NIA commended the union for demonstrating good faith and assured staff that their concerns remain a top priority and would continue to receive urgent attention.

“Accordingly, all NIA offices and registration centres across the country will resume full operations on Monday, 30th June, 2025. The general public is encouraged to visit any of our offices to access our services,” the statement noted.

Mr Darlas expressed regret over any inconvenience caused during the strike and thanked the public for their patience and understanding.

The NIA reiterated its commitment to delivering efficient, reliable, and quality identification services to the Ghanaian public in fulfilment of its national mandate.
