An entertainment lawyer, Cynthia Quarcoo Jumu, has asked Ghanaian artists to be business-oriented instead of just focusing on momentary and short term fame.
In an interview with Showbiz, the lawyer , with a deep passion for the arts, said she always advises artists in the industry to strategically commercialise their art so that they are assured of a “secure future”.

Cynthia, who has advised many top Ghanaian artists over several years said, it was unfortunate that many artists do not have a strong business sense and an inclination towards strategy that would complement their art and set them apart. She said the future of the industry was in the hands of those artists who look beyond the hits and truly invest in their craft.
According to her, it is time for artists to emulate the likes of Sarkodie, Reggie Rockstone and Edem among others and set ambitious long-term goals for themselves which are achievable through a combination of their God-given talents and the appropriate application of business strategies.
She said: “An artist has the opportunity to save money and invest in profitable ventures when he or she is making waves but it is quite unfortunate that a lot of them don’t have the guidance to set long-term goals.”
As a lover of the arts, Cynthia has been helping to develop the brands of creative individuals in the entertainment, sports and creative arena. She has mostly done so on a pro-bono basis but has now formalised this through her professional services firm, Africa 1 Media.
Her aim is to expose Ghanaian and African talents to the international stage and to guide them towards fully developing their craft .
When asked about her interest in entertainment, Cynthia, who is also an expert in Banking and Finance with a deep knowledge of trade, business, intellectual property, corporate and commercial law, said she had been following Ghanaian entertainment since infancy hence her love for it. She told Showbiz that she has always had the interest to be a musician.
