Musician Twitch urges colleagues to do wholesome songs

We have a duty to society - Twitch

MUSIC’s importance as a tool for societal change cannot be overemphasised and that is why it is essential for the lyrics to songs to be carefully chosen.

Interestingly, a lot of musicians, instead of leading the charge are guilty of using bad, sometimes profane lyrics.

It is for this reason that singer/songwriter Twitch is appealing to his colleagues to be careful about the kind of songs they come out with.

In a conversation with Graphic Showbiz last week, Twitch, whose real name is Prince Ador, said artistes using their talents to facilitate change was not a new thing.

However, he has been compelled to amplify the discussion following the recent incidents involving final year students of some Senior High Schools.

“I know many people would not consider bad music as a contributor to the dwindling standards among the young generation but we must understand that music is like a spirit and pushes one to do good or evil when possessed with it.

“And here we are with songs that don’t just promote the smoking of weed but also glorify disrespect to the elderly as a measurement of one’s toughness. I’m in this game and have been on shows and I’ve seen how young people behave crazily when some songs are played.

“We should understand that we are gatekeepers so I’m imploring my colleagues that apart from entertaining people, we have a bigger mandate of ensuring and building an ethically strong society,” he stated.

A choir member in his younger days, Twitch joined the music scene in 2016 after an encounter with the Ground Up team. He has since been making a good case for his talent with songs such as Mewu, Save Me Remix featuring Medikal and Kweku Smoke and Superman with Kwesi Arthur and KiDi.

So far, he has performed at Sarkodie’s Rapperholic concert, and at Kwesi Arthur’s One Cedi & A Dream Homecoming show. He mentioned that he is preparing for the release of a new song titled Lost.
