2baba and Annie’s marriage saga; how the story is unfolding
On Sunday, January 26, Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, announced that he and his wife Annie Macaulay were separated and currently filed for divorce.
2Baba took to his Instagram account to share the news with his fans.
He wrote, “Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long…I and Annie Macaulay have been separated for a while now, and currently filed for divorce.
“I would grant a press release soon to say my story. Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offence. Stay blessed my people. I love you all.”
However, just few minutes after the post, the African Queen hit-maker made another post claiming his account had been hacked, briefly putting to an end the “fire” from some netizens, who claimed Annie had sacrificed so much for the marriage to be humiliated with a social media post.
“It read, “My Instagram account has been hacked, efforts are being carried out to take back control. #onelove!”
But the story took another twist when this time around, 2Baba in a video shared on his Instagram story, insisted that the post was made by him and stood by it that he and Annie were separated and filing for divorce.
The revelation, has once again, sparked conversation about their marriage which has been a centre of interest among their large following across Africa since they got married in 2012 after 10 years of dating.
After years of dating and weathering storms together, Annie stood by 2Face during his rise to fame and throughout his earlier controversies of fathering children with other women, becoming a symbol of loyalty and resilience. Their union, however, was not without challenges.
Recall their marriage has been swirled with rumours of divorce after Annie had accused 2Baba of infidelity.
