Apply critical thinking in matters of religious faith - Avraham Ben Moshe

Ghanaian religious nonconformist and leader of the Common Sense Family, Avraham Ben Moshe, has urged Ghanaians to apply critical thinking when it comes to matters of religious faith.

According to him, people should not blindly follow religious doctrines but rather use their reasoning and analytical skills to determine the truth.

Avraham Ben Moshe made this call as a guest on this week’s edition of ‘The Real Talk Podcast’, hosted by Elizabeth Essuman.

Avraham has been known to challenge the Bible and question the existence of supernatural powers, stating that "any God whose supernatural powers and miracles are only seen in a book and not in reality is equal to a God who never existed".

He emphasizes the importance of using common sense and critical thinking to evaluate religious claims, rather than relying on faith and blind obedience. This approach, he believes, will help people to distinguish between truth and falsehood, and make informed decisions about their spiritual lives.

Avraham Ben Moshe was paired with Bishop Michael Banga and the duo bantered on religion, spirituality, doctrine and logic.

Avraham Ben Moshe's teachings have sparked intense debate in Ghana, with some people praising him for his boldness and others criticising him for his unconventional views.

Regardless of the reactions, he remains committed to his mission of promoting critical thinking and skepticism in matters of faith and his stance was highly enforced on the podcast.

This episode also shone light on many parts ranging from the faith put in God, Christianity and Islam not looked critically with common sense.

The host, Elizabeth Essuman, told Graphic Showbiz she was excited about this week’s edition of the podcast.

“There were clarity on the Old and New Testaments, clarity on intentional and unintentional sins; this episode came deep and the guests chose their respective conventional styles to express their opinions on the subject matter.

“The goals is to give the audience the platform to understand and come to terms with a stance that matters; and we must say that the avant garde styles of our guests is a reflection of the belief instincts in them.

“ It was not a platform to create unnecessary controversy but share in the diversity of our religious beliefs and doctrines,” she said.
