DreamChild Foundation honours national leaders, strengthens advocacy for child wellness

The DreamChild Foundation has strengthened its advocacy for child wellness across Africa by recognising distinguished leaders, traditional authorities, and public figures while renewing calls for greater investment in child healthcare systems.

At a recent appreciation ceremony in Accra, the Foundation honoured notable personalities, including the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, President John Dramani Mahama, and Ghanaian dancehall artiste Stonebwoy for their contributions to national development and their influence in championing issues affecting children and vulnerable communities.

Tribute to Nana Dr Ama Amissah III

The Foundation also paid tribute to Nana Dr. Ama Amissah III, a dedicated supporter of its mission, who recently passed away in the United States while on an official trip.

Nana Dr. Amissah III, the Paramount Queen Mother of the Mankessim Traditional Area in the Central Region, served as a Board member of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), the state institution with exclusive authority to buy, sell and export gold and other precious minerals in Ghana.

In recognition of her contributions to gender advocacy and community development, Mrs. Sheila Amoakohene, wife of the Foundation's co-founder, Kofi Amoakohene, presented a DreamChild Foundation Certificate of Appreciation in her honour and named her a posthumous ambassador for gender balance initiatives.

The Foundation described the late Queen Mother as a passionate advocate for service and development whose legacy will continue to inspire its work.

Lali x Lola named Global Ambassadors

As part of efforts to expand awareness of child health issues, DreamChild Foundation named Ghanaian music duo Lali x Lola as its Global Ambassadors.

The appointment is intended to leverage the duo's growing influence among young audiences to promote child health awareness and mobilise support for critical interventions across the continent.

According to the Foundation, the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to keep child welfare issues at the forefront of public discourse while building momentum toward the upcoming HoodTalk Music Festival.

The festival is envisioned as a major advocacy and fundraising platform aimed at supporting the construction of paediatric clinics across Africa.

"We want every artist and attendee of HoodTalk to feel they are part of a movement dedicated to the wellness of the African child," the Foundation stated.

Aligning with global development goals

DreamChild Foundation is aligning its programmes with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), which seeks to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all.

The organisation is urging governments, development partners and other stakeholders to prioritise investment in child healthcare infrastructure and services.

Through strategic partnerships, public engagement and high-profile advocacy initiatives, DreamChild Foundation says it is positioning itself as a leading voice in the campaign to improve child health outcomes and expand access to quality healthcare for children across Africa.
