GH artistes should be intentional about global recognition – Eric Bellinger

Grammy-nominated songwriter, Eric Bellinger advises Ghanaian artistes to make a conscious effort to promote their music globally, believing their talents and creativity warrant a wider audience.

He said African artistes already have what it takes to succeed internationally.

“There’s no doubt that greatness resides in Ghana and just needs the platform to showcase it. I’m certain the United States will love Ghanaian artistes and their music and working together is a sure way to project them,” he said in an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, October 27.

“There’s already so much fire coming from Ghana and Africa. The talent is there, the sound is unique, it’s just about consistency and showing up on global stages, once people experience it, they’ll connect instantly because African music has a heartbeat the world can feel,” he said.

Bellinger, who has collaborated with African artistes like Tiwa Savage, said achieving global success required more than talent including building strong relationships and unwavering determination.

“I didn’t just get up to do Afrobeats music but the desire pushed me to travel to many African countries to build contacts and relationships. I took the time to build friends and find resources to help us get to where we wanted to be.

“I gave it time to develop, we attached feet to our faith and stayed true to the vision. That is me being intentional and if that is reciprocated by Ghanaian artistes, I have no doubt they will soar internationally, “he said.

Additionally, Bellinger also believes artistes need to actively push their work on global platforms to gain the attention they truly deserve.

“The world won’t know how amazing your sound is unless you put it out there. You can’t wait to be discovered, your art deserves to be heard everywhere, not just at home,” he said.

Known for songs such as G.O.A.T., Drive By, and Valet, Eric praised Ghana for influencing global sounds with its unique beats.
