Hiplife legend Nana King is back with 4EVR Champion Vol. 1

Legendary US-based Ghanaian musician, producer and music entrepreneur Nana King has released his highly anticipated new album, 4EVR Champion Vol. 1, marking a major milestone in his musical journey.

The 25-track album was released worldwide on Friday, March 6, 2026, a historic date in Ghana’s cultural calendar. The project is the first part of a two-volume series, with 4EVR Champion Vol. 2 expected later this year.

Widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the Hiplife movement that emerged in Ghana in the late 1990s, Nana King blends his signature sound with contemporary global influences on the new album.

4EVR Champion Vol. 1 fuses Hiplife with Afro Trap, R&B and hip-hop, creating a vibrant sound that bridges generations and appeals to an international audience. The album moves effortlessly between smooth R&B melodies, rhythm-driven Afro Trap beats, classic Hiplife flows and modern hip-hop arrangements.

The project also offers a multilingual listening experience, with songs performed in English, Twi and Pidgin, reflecting the diverse cultural influences behind Nana King’s music.

Drawing on decades of experience, the veteran artiste collaborates with a new generation of talents, many of whom are signed to his label, Ashanti International Records. The only guest artist outside the label roster is Kwacy Boat.

Among the featured acts is reigning rap queen Nana Queen, who appears on two standout tracks. She joins Nana King on the title track “4EVR Champion,” an Afro Trap reinterpretation of his iconic 1999 hit “Champion,” originally recorded with Ghanaian rap legend Ex-Doe.

Nana Queen also features on the album’s breakout single “Woye Medo,” which has already gained significant traction on radio and streaming platforms since the beginning of the year.

Other collaborations on the album include Lucia on “Fake,” Boy Spike on “Ɔnnye Wo Deɛ,” and Shegeeh on “Odononie.”

According to Marcelle Sirkus, Chief Operating Officer of Ashanti International Records and Nana King’s manager, the project reflects both legacy and innovation.

“This album celebrates the sound that cemented Nana King’s legacy while setting a new standard for Hiplife artists worldwide,” he said.

The album’s early buzz has been driven by the success of the single “Woye Medo,” which blends heartfelt Twi lyrics with modern production and Afro Trap rhythms. The song has quickly emerged as one of the standout releases of 2026.

More than two decades after helping shape the Hiplife movement, Nana King is once again pushing the genre beyond borders. Fans are also anticipating the upcoming music video for the album’s title track, expected to be released in the coming weeks.

Born William O. A. Konadu Jr. in Los Angeles, Nana King later lived in Ghana where he established Ashanti International Records. Through the label, he has developed and mentored several artists who went on to become chart-topping stars, contributing significantly to the evolution of Ghanaian music.
