This identity issue forced her to withdraw as a contestant from the Miss South Africa pageant, as she struggled to reconcile her dual Nigerian and South African heritage.
“It has been a long journey, so hard at times. I would cry myself to sleep, questioning ‘Why me?’ I had to shift my perspective to see potential greatness emerging from these challenges,” she said.
Following her announcement as a contestant for Miss South Africa, Chidimma encountered backlash in the country. However, this setback was soon offset by an unexpected opportunity of an invitation from the Silverbird Group to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, which she eagerly accepted, paving the way for a new chapter in her pageantry journey.
When questioned about her commitment to pageantry, Chidimma declared that her ambitious aspiration is to claim the prestigious title of Miss Universe.
“I think it’s something I started recently; however, I’ve had this dream since 2017 to become the next Miss Universe. I’m really glad I have been given the platform and the opportunity to at least try and reach that goal,” she said.
