I have nothing against secular artistes – OB Nartey
Vision 1 FM's Kwame OB Nartey has not been shy about expressing his strong views on Gospel artistes collaborating with secular acts and that has created the impression that he has issues with those into secular music.
When Gospel artiste Celestine Donkor featured secular artistes Efya and Akwaboah on her single Thank You, Yedawase which she released in December 2020, OB Nartey, who is the host of Live Worship with OB on Vision 1, was one of the people who criticised the move.
According to him, it was not right for a Gospel musician to have any form of collaboration with a secular musician someone who is into secular music as the two are from different worlds.
Speaking with Graphic Showbiz on the matter, OB Nartey said the impression that he did not like secular musicians weren't true.
“I don’t have anything against any human being created by the Almighty, I have no issue at all but I believe what has to be done, has to be done well.

“People do not understand the Gospel ministry, it is an in-depth one and the issues in it are deeper too so there’s a need to protect the little we have and develop a clear-cut way of penetrating the industry and make maximum impact. You cannot do things anyhow because you want to get your works out there,” he said.
Celestine Donkor is not the first Gospel artiste to have featured a secular act on her song. A number of her colleagues such as Herty Borngreat, Yaw Sarpong, Gifty Adorye, Joyce Blessing and MOG have all featured secular artistes.

OB Nartey said Gospel and secular artistes must stay in their lanes because they have different callings.
“We just don’t do things anyhow, you must be led by the Holy Spirit. We’re one people but our callings are different and the purpose for which we are here is also different. I believe we can respect each other’s line of work to project Ghana and Christ at large.”
