I refuse to be boxed — Jeffrey Nortey
ACTOR, comedian and skitmaker Jeffrey Nortey has never been comfortable standing still. As he prepares for this year’s edition of 3 Faces of Jeffrey Nortey, he says the drive to reinvent himself is not a strategy, it is simply who he is.
According to him, creativity thrives on growth and experimentation, and he has never been comfortable being defined by a single role, genre or artistic identity.
“I don’t like being boxed. As a creative, I always want to explore new ideas and find different ways of telling stories. This year’s show is a reflection of that mindset,” he said.
This year's edition of 3 Faces of Jeffrey Nortey is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, June 12 at the National Theatre.
The production will be presented through three distinct concepts — film, stage and street, offering audiences a more layered storytelling experience and a broader window into his range as a performer.
For Jeffrey, the new format is a deliberate challenge to expectation. Creativity, he believes, dies the moment it stops growing.
Over the years, 3 Faces of Jeffrey Nortey has grown into one of the country’s most anticipated comedy and theatre productions, earning a reputation for blending humour, drama and social commentary in ways that feel fresh rather than formulaic.
Last year’s edition drew a packed house to the National Theatre despite heavy rainfall, with audiences particularly impressed by Jeffrey’s ability to move fluidly between characters and themes without losing the room.
That consistency has helped cement his standing as one of the industry’s more daring creative voices, an artist willing to pull apart what works in search of something better.
Details of this year’s supporting acts are still under wraps, but Jeffrey is not short on confidence about what audiences can expect.
“This year’s edition will be bigger, more exciting and unforgettable. We are putting together something special for everyone who supports the brand,” he said.
Jeffrey Nortey gained popularity in 2020 during COVID era when he started his social media skits which gained attention due to its funny content entertaining to the audience on the platform.
Jeffrey, who is an actor, presenter and spoken word artiste, took the comedy skit industry to another level and brought some well-needed attention to that sector by highlighting trending topics and life lessons with his act.
His works such as Buttocks is Life, Why is the Nectar So Sweet, The Police is Your Friend, Follow Me, DollarVsCitizen garnered over a million views on You Tube and other social media handles.
Last year, he was nominated in the Best Actor in A lead role at 2024 Ghana Movie Awards but lost.
