Watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup for free in Ghana: 9 stations form national consortium

The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has secured the exclusive terrestrial free-to-air broadcast rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament, through the support of the Government of Ghana, ensuring that all Ghanaians can follow the Black Stars at no cost.

In a statement released on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, GBC announced that it has established a National Broadcast Consortium for the broadcast of the World Cup matches. The initiative, formed at the request of the government, utilises a shared technical, marketing and broadcasting framework to ensure maximum national reach.

Authorised television partners

The following television stations have officially joined the Ghana TV Consortium and are licensed by FIFA, through New World TV and GBC, to broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches:

1. GBC Channels: GTV, GTV Sports+, Garden City TV, and Obonu TV

2. Multimedia Group: Adom TV and Joy Prime

3. EIB Network: GHOne TV and Agoo TV

4. Ignite Media: Metro TV and Original TV

5. Media General: TV3 and Onua TV

6. Max TV

7. Sporty TV

8. Woezor TV

9. UTV

Radio broadcast rights

GBC stated that radio stations interested in broadcasting the matches must acquire a sub-licence from GBC. Unauthorised radio broadcasts are strictly prohibited. Interested stations have been directed to contact the licensing team.

Sponsorship opportunities

The Ghana TV Consortium is offering a comprehensive suite of sponsorship, advertising and digital engagement packages across television, radio and social media. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be the most-watched sporting event globally, presenting an unparalleled opportunity for brands to connect with millions of viewers across Ghana.

Rights protection notice

GBC, FIFA and New World TV reminded the public and media houses that any unauthorised broadcast, rebroadcast, streaming, public viewing, exhibition, or commercial distribution of World Cup content within Ghana is strictly prohibited.

The Ghana TV Consortium will actively monitor all platforms, including digital and social media, throughout the tournament. Any entity found to be infringing these exclusive rights will face immediate legal action and regulatory sanctions.

GBC and the Ghana TV Consortium expressed profound gratitude to the Government of Ghana and all stakeholders for their support in bringing the historic global event to the homes of all Ghanaians.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off on June 11 and will be hosted across Canada, Mexico and the United States, with Ghana competing in Group L against Panama, England and Croatia. The tournament features 48 teams and 104 matches over nearly 40 days. The final will be held in New Jersey on July 19, 2026.

Games

The announcement follows news last year that New World TV, a pan-African broadcaster, had extended its partnership with FIFA for the FIFA World Cup 26 and the FIFA Women's World Cup Brazil 2027

The broadcaster secured exclusive pay-TV rights for all matches in French-speaking Sub-Saharan territories, as well as exclusive free-to-air rights for 34 matches (one match per day) of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and 25 matches of the FIFA Women's World Cup Brazil 2027 across 43 Sub-Saharan African territories, including Ghana.
