Isaac Kofi Dzokpo: The Ghanaian comic actor making an impact
Isaac Kofi Dzokpo, popularly known as Hon Ike, is steadily carving out a remarkable path in Ghana’s media and entertainment landscape as a comic actor, content creator, journalist, and humanitarian. From humble beginnings as a skit comedian, he has grown into a respected voice blending humour, advocacy, and storytelling to influence lives across multiple spheres.
Hon Ike rose to prominence through his relatable and often hilarious comedy skits rooted in everyday Ghanaian experiences. His unique style quickly resonated with audiences, earning him recognition as one of the country’s vibrant new voices in digital comedy.
In 2014, Dzokpo’s acting career took a major leap when he featured in the critically acclaimed Netflix film Beasts of No Nation, which shone a spotlight on the plight of child soldiers in West Africa. His versatility as an actor was further demonstrated when he took on the role of a king in the Ghanaian comic film Diamond Race, comfortably moving between dramatic and humorous performances.
His creative talents have not gone unnoticed. Over the years, he has been honoured with several awards, including Content Creator of the Year, Comedian of the Year, and Blogger of the Year at various events, notably the 1st National Industrious Awards held in 2023.
But Dzokpo’s impact extends beyond comedy and acting. He is also an experienced journalist with News Ghana, covering diverse topics such as health, politics, education, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and environmental and human interest issues. “Through his reporting, he consistently champions developmental issues and advocates for social justice, using his platform to amplify voices often unheard,” a colleague said of his work.
His commitment to community service is reflected in his role as co-founder of the Save Nations Foundation, a non-governmental organisation he established with US-based Ghanaian Samuel Osei. The foundation supports deprived communities through educational outreach, healthcare services, and empowerment initiatives aimed at improving quality of life at the grassroots level.
Dzokpo’s dedication to peace and humanitarian causes has also earned him international recognition. In 2021, he was appointed a Peace Ambassador by the Universal Peace Federation (UPF). That same year, he was inducted as an executive member of the International Media Association for Peace (IMAP) in Ghana, further cementing his reputation as a voice for unity and development.
An alumnus of the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM-UK), Dzokpo holds a professional qualification from the internationally recognised awarding body, equipping him with a strong foundation in business and management that supports his ventures in media and entrepreneurship.
Whether through laughter, advocacy, or in-depth reporting, Isaac Kofi Dzokpo continues to inspire many. His mission, he says, is simple yet profound: to “bring smiles to faces—especially to those who are heartbroken,” offering joy and hope even in the most challenging times.
